About SIEGE!Founded in 2007, Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (SIEGE), has already established itself as the largest video game trade show in the southeast. This year, we're expecting 400-600 registered attendees. We're also opening the doors on Saturday to an unknown number of public guests for the college and career fair.
The show is operated by Georgia Game Developers Association, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(6) trade association. All proceeds from the show directly benefit the growth of the the industry. There are no greedy shareholders driving the show. Our staff is composed almost entirely of volunteers who donate about 10 hours of service in exchange for a free 3-day pass. Some of the coordinators are compensated peanuts for the hundreds of hours that they spend organizing the event.
What can you do to help? Glad you asked! If your company is not listed as a sponsor, go poke your business development director or VP of marketing. Help them understand that they need to set aside at least $500 in their budget each year to support SIEGE. SIEGE provides a venue for professional growth and collaboration, creates business opportunities, attracts attention from venture capital and angel investors, and showcases our southeastern companies.
What else? Thanks for offering. We need more participation from mobile companies (such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint) and interactive TV (Scientific Atlanta, Turner, etc.) and companies in the southeast (Epic, EA Tiberon, Disney Studios, etc.). Please reach out and invite these and similar companies to join the effort.
